The course teaches the principles of systems integration, and familiarizes students with the process of linking together different computing systems and software applications physically or functionally, to act as a coordinated whole. Topics to be covered include the organization needs for integration, building blocks for integration, enterprise architectures, types of integration, data domains, integration technologies, business process re-engineering, data representation and XML, and Service Oriented Architectures.
The course teaches communication systems. Topics covered include the classification of signals and systems, Fourier series and transform applications, power spectra and spectral density, band-limited signals and noise, sampling theory and digital transmission, modulation techniques and pulse code modulation, digital communication systems.
